I'm thinking of getting a PS3 because of the recent price cut. And while I prefer the PS3, I also love the 360, more importantly its controller, its a god sent for FPS & other shooters. Also, I just can't get around to use the DualShock 3 for Shooters. I was wondering maybe there's some website or store, which sells DualShocks 3 inside the 360 controller shell.

I have checked out Ben Heck's PS360 controller, which is based around a Sixaxis. I'm looking for a Dualshock 3 version of the same. And while the XCM Cross battle adapter looks like a choice, I'm worried about the lag, and the wired issues of it.

So, I'd be grateful if ya guys knew anything about these. Anything at all. Ciao ! :)

I just bought a XCM Cross battle 2.0 and am really impressed with it. There is no lag that I can tell, and the analogue sticks work perfectly -- if I didn't know better I would think I was using an Xbox.

The main downsides are that you need a wired xbox controller, and the tilt functionality implementation is clunky and involves pressing L or R buttons on the adapter box itself.

If you go this route get the 2.0 version because the older versions don't allow you to swap buttons, which means you can't swap bumper and trigger buttons (most shooters on PS3 use R1, whereas xbox shooters use R2).

Well I suppose you have a few options. You could always send a request in to Ben Heck, although I don't think he is a big fan of repeating projects. If you have some soldering skills you could also just mod a 360 controller yourself which would come with the added benefit of being able to say you made it. The other option is this adapter that I just found after a quick google search that will allow you to use a 360 controller on your ps3.

If you find any more elegant methods let me know cause I would be interested in this as well.

Update: Changed the link to a newer one and it seems they also have an adapter for using a keyboard and mouse on a ps3 for FPS games which I am even more interested in.

LOL Mate, I did mention the XCM Battle Adapter. While it looks like a novel idea, it has a bit of lag ( due to post processing of signals, etc) Also, it doesn't support the wireless version of the Xbox 360 controller.

The PS3 controller I have found works better on the games its designed for. The D-pad is better, the shoulder buttons are more responsive, it holds a charge longer, and is lighter overall. I really like using the dual shock or 360 controller on their respective consoles anyway. The sticks on the 360 are tighter and give more control, but also tend to give me blisters more. With all of the options to optimize the sensitivity in these games you can usually get them to feel the way you like in the end.

Guys, found a lil' something that would help in our situation.

Gioteck Real Triggers - Concave L2 & R2 Trigger Snap-ons, which effectively reduce the "Slipping-off" in Soccer & other Racing games. I think it'd be great for Shooters :)
