Has anybody tried it?
They've got a mic, buttons, and a 4-conductor 3.5mm jack like the stock Pre 'phones... has anybody tried plugging them into a Pre? I figure the controls working is a longshot, but I'm curious to know if the mic works for making calls on the Pre.

Most of those headphone types send the same sorts of signals across, because the crappy ones people buy on ebay all do as well. It's kind of a standard, if I remember right. I can't say about the button functions, though.

I tried the Apple headphones from an iPhone 3GS and they worked fine. The Pre headphones also worked on the iPhone ;) All functions, pause, skip, etc. Have to say I didn't actually try a phone call, but I think it should work, based on my experiments.

The pause and play function work and of course the sound comes out fine, but for whatever reason the mic is not functional. I wish it was...

I was pissed to find this out. I hate the pre headphones but I love the apple ones and the mic is a lot better on the apple headphones. I can deal without the other functions... this is really disappointing.

I don't know what everyone is talking about but my apple in ear headphones work perfectly with my pre. Mic and all! Don't know what the problem would be?
