It's a great camera!! I replaced my D70s with this and I'm glad I did. I added a 18-200 Lense and what a package!!

Did you get the Nikon 35 1.8? That is the hardest lens to find in NYC. Not one of the hundred camera shops have it in stock..

That is wayyyy overpriced. The lens usually retails for around 200 bonez. They're charging 150 more because of the demand and lack of supply.

I'll chime in - same answer as others though - I've had mine for 6 months and no issues at all. Great camera!

I've had no problems with the D90 in the past 6 months. I wish auto focus was possible in video mode and focus was faster in live view but I did not get this camera for those features.

I've had mine for over 6 months now and it was a great upgrade from my Nikon D40x. It feels strong, work well even in low light and reviews point out that image quality is comparable to the d3 and better then the d300

Mine has randomly gone into an Err state. Not sure what the cause is but the only fix is to remove the battery. Otherwise I love it and am really happy with it.

I had this issue also. I think it was because the A/M focus on the lens and the A/M focus on the body didn't match. After they were both set to Auto the error stopped.

Hope this helps,

You may want to clean the contacts on your lens. Some times this helps. Other times the lens take a little wear in before they work properly, remove and reattach the lens 10 or 15 times.

The issues that I have had are:
1) Occasionally the camera will just refuse to snap the picture (the remedy is to remove the battery and then put it back in). This has happened to me twice.
2) Like Synessa, the camera once locked up (again, the battery thing fixes this).

But overall, the D90 is well worth it is as the low-light pictures are great, the size & weight is reasonable, it has a top-mounted LCD that the cheaper Nikons lack, video is a nice "bonus", and AF works on my older Nikon lenses.

Had same ERR state and refusing to take a picture or when it did - picture came out all black... Fix (going on a month now) was to remove the lens and reattach it. Seems there's potential for bad connection and since I reseated have had no further issues. Besides this - camera has been great!

Usually refusal to shoot comes from AF being told not to unless focus has been achieved. You set this (or set to avoid this) by selecting AF-S / AF-A or AF-C using the exterior AF button and back scroll wheel. Best results come from using AF-A or AF-C plus Custom Setting Menu item A1: AF Area Mode > 3D which lets you target a specific AF point to focus, then reframe. The 3D function allows the camera to track your original AF target over all the AF points.

Not the greatest for shooting video.. It has what most people call the "jello effect" when it comes to motion. But, it's great for photographs. I've actually taken better photographs on the D90 than on the 5D MK II.

get the err all the time. However i think the culprit is my Tamron 18-270 lens. I have yet to send lens back but i have to guess thats the problem since they have terrible quality control. Also if i zoom past 70mm the camera will not take a picture and you see a constanct focus symbol in the middle of the lens even though not pressing anyuthing. And the image stabilization will not engage once zoomed past 70mm. The remedey is to turn camera off the on. Or to reattatch the lens if get the err message. I have a feeling all this is due to cpu in the lens.

i previously posted that i had no problems. i should have knocked on wood.

the light meter no longer works correctly in the manual, shutter, aperture, and program modes. in manual mode shots are completely black when the light meter is centered. the other modes i mentioned also under exposed. the automatic modes however work fine.

any ideas?
