Topic: 2 different keyboards?

I just noticed there are 2 different keyboards for the Verizon Droid. My friend and I have had our Droids since the 1st day(bought at different stores). Both of our keyboards have raised keys. So you can tell when you move from one key to another.

When using my Dads Droid the other day I noticed his does not have raised keys. I have since looked at 2 other Droids neither of them have raised keys either.

Has anyone else noticed the difference?

Yeah, I've used display models at 2 different Verizon stores, one had a raised key-keyboard, the other did not. The raised keys were much easier to type with.

Not sure how well a picture will come out. Pictures of small keys will not show depth very well. If you have a Droid are the keys raised at all and how long have you had your Droid?

I bought my Droid at launch and my keys are raised.

I have a replacemednt Droid coming today. If the keyboard is any different, I'll try to snap some pics.

whoa! you mean the Droid has a physical KEYBOARD?!?! ;-)

I hardly use mine Android's auto-correction for the onscreen keyboard works well enough that I never use it....

I work @ a vzw store and just got the Droid. It seems that some, VERY FEW, have raised keyboards. The rest are all flat. All the new ones that we have been getting are flat, but some of the first batch we received were raised. Dont know why but thats my 2 cents...

I'm not sure exactly what is meant by flat or raised, but here's my keyboard, which seems pleasantly "raised" to me:

Not that I can tell real well in the picture, but here one is. Hopefully I can snag a side by side the next time I get a chance.

I got to say, everyone always says that a big complaint about the DROID is that the is no defition to the keys. I always have felt that they were slightly raised though.I assumed I was just imagining things.

Here is the best I could do. People always make fun of the blurry phone pictures. Turns out it is harder than it looks. I think it is pretty easy to see the difference though.

Ohhhh, now I get it. I'd more describe that as bumpy keys versus flat keys, since both keyboards have the keys raised off of a base surface. :) Thanks for the pictures, davidcmal, they were very helpful.
