I tried to update my Zune software today and it downloads and then goes to install but i get an error. The error states Zune software installation can't continue until you've installed one or more required updates. There is a Microsoft support link that states i need to be using Microsoft Update instead of Windows Update. But when i check i am using Microsoft Update so i'm not sure what else to do. I rebooted and retried but that didn't didn't work.

I downloaded the stand alone installer but i'm still getting the same error. I have no other Windows updates available to install and i restored my hidden updates just to make sure but the only things in there are the language packs. Anybody having the same issue or seen a fix for this issue anywhere?

Well i finally fixed the issue. Turns out you have to run it in Vista compatibility mode. Or at least that fixed it for me i'm running Win7 x64 RC you may not have issue's with the retail release of 7.

Thank you! I had this earlier on my 7RC machine but didn't have time to troubleshoot. I am installing on another machine now with retail 7 and it's working fine.

Side note: did anyone else receive an extra 10 credits? I used mine up as soon as I renewed and now I have 10 more. My Zune Pass expires on 2/2/10.

Im running windows 7 ultimate retail and had no problem. The update doesn't seem to add a lot of visual enhancements, but the back end has had some work. Im looking forward to the zune hd and zune software updates coming in the future...
