my top 5:

1. doesn't organise music folder
2. native audiobook support
3.optional bookmarking on files
4. deleting files from software doesn't remove it from playlists
5. cant edit files from playlist view. have to go and find it in the library

1. Agree, but at least WMP is there to do that job.
2. I don't care for audiobooks, but I can see how this is annoying for people who do.
3. Would be a great addition.
4. Agree
5. This is the only item on your list that genuinely pisses me off. Playlist view is a really logical place for me to edit tags but I can't!

I agree, especially about audiobook support. It's kind of annoying when I shuffle everything and a chapter of American Psycho or a George Carlin book comes up, especially when I have it docked in my dorm room.

your so right. even if you don't listen to audiobooks you may still have comedy on your zune. it isn;t so bad if you have 30sec jokes on there but i have for one have full shows. i have dave chappelle stand up, i have a huge amount of doug stanhope content. They say God is in the details and i think sometimes it can be the same when a device attempts to make the transition from an accessory to a necessity. A great example of this is my experience with itunes. I stayed with apple for so long not because i loved their device or software so much, but because i had windows vista and some random coder had made a desktop gadget that let me pause, play and rate my music whilst it pulled off album art and tagged it automatically when a song was played. Silly huh? millions of dollare of technology ion hardware and software and i was kept a customer long after i lost patience with the company by this...

There are a lot of little things that make the Zune 4 a minor annoyance throughout the day, but with my experience, Z4 is much better than iTunes 9. Just the look speed really make me a fan of the software and the Zune HD itself.

sorry, look/speed, two different things that I forgot to separate.

I have to agree with SmirfJerker. I still use itunes just to edit tags and organizing folders, but listen to music with the Zune software. The complaints are annoying but I just think they are really minor. Itunes seems really boggy in Windows in general.

I love that Zune software doesn't organize my music folder. Hands off! I hate when itunes tries to do that. I also don't listen to audiobooks or use playlists so those things aren't annoying to me.

I only have two minor annoyances:
1. When tagging an mp3 with genre of Podcast it can take a while to show up in the podcasts section.
2. Can't add custom podcast cover art.

you can't untag a podcast though? tried moving my ricky gervais into an audiobook autoplaylist and I'm not allowed. i had to delete it from my library. fire up windows media player. rename it there and then re-add it to my library.

When did you last try this? I wonder if the new podcast library support helps the problem. I know it works better going the other way (if I stick something in the podcast library it will show up in the Zune software podcast section).

i for one like being able to find a song without loading up a player software. i have a sansa clip for the gym and i am forever dragging tracks to it.
the zune software doesn't allow you to drag songs from its interface to an explorer window btw.

i'm not bashing the zune. i imported mine from america at great cost so that alone shows a level of dedication to it. i imported it inspite of he fact i wouldn't be allowed any of the social or market features or app features because of my domicile.
I LOVE MY ZUNE. its the best player out there for me.But imagine if usian bolt was owned by the Dominican Republic of Microsoft......they'd have had him on their swim team.

they have a device to fuse your xbox experience and zune experience and create an eco system that for once outweighs the competition. But they wont. they're not innovative, their reactionary. They're luck that apple have the apple tv or they'd have done something great with the sony ps3 and had microsoft once again scrambling to catch up.

I want the zune to be a runaway success and it angers me that they will never deliver a killer blow to the apple smugness. time and time again people like me who join their front line are left dangling and embarrassed when confronted by an apple fan boy. I'm in the gym with my zune hd and it looks really nice in its pouch. my friends think its gorgeous. then we jump on the treadmill and theyre all flicking tracks by clicking a button near their ear. i'm constantly getting my device out of my pocket and having to navigate it two handed. Zune HD is a near £300 device that doesnt support inline remotes of any kind. not even one made by microsoft for the zune 30.

I haven't tried but can't you just move files around from the folders the zune software monitors.

You can manually transfer songs from the Zune software to the Zune. Not quite the same as dragging into an explorer window, but similar.

my point is that if you've taken the time to ake a complex playlist on zune you cant for example drag the list of tracks onto a memory card for your phone. or onto a exercise sized sansa clip you use for the gym.

of course for one track dragging you can just search for the song in windows but for multiple tracks......

I have dealt with iTunes ruining my music collection files just cause apple wanted it organized the "right" way. This feature is crap or should have a turn on/off and not be default.

Zune has gotten better with age. And now with the ZuneHD being upgraded more and more. We will get that App Catalog. As soon as MS gets WM7, its just gonna happen. Lets just hope they don't parent guide our cuss words.

only last week i deleted all my uni pictures from my computer by accident. luckily they'e on picasa. the zune software doesn't organise your files but if you delete a picture from the collection you use it on windows as well. windows media player doesn't do that. that's where i made the mistake.
