Netflix Partnership

This exclusive partnership offers you the ability to instantly stream movies and TV episodes from Netflix to the television via Xbox 360. Xbox 360 will be the only game console to offer this movie-watching experience, available to Xbox LIVE Gold members who are also Netflix unlimited plan subscribers**, at no additional cost.

From the Netflix Web site, simply add movies and TV episodes to your instant Queue, which will appear automatically on the TV screen via Xbox 360. Once selected, movies will begin playing in as little as 30 seconds. In addition to instantly streaming Netflix movies to the TV, Xbox LIVE Gold members can browse and rate movies, fast-forward, pause and rewind, all using either their Xbox 360 Controller or Universal remote.

**See Netflix Terms of Use for details about Netflix service.

That doesn't mean anything. Thats just Microsoft pounding its chest for TODAY saying they are the only ones who have it and they're right. But they have been polling people like mad asking if they want Netflix on the PSWii and eventually it will happen. It will be "exclusive" the same way Grand Theft Auto III - San Andreas were "exclusive" to the PS2....

Microsoft has been using this exact same language for over a year now.

While this may not mean what Microsoft would have us believe, I did call Netflix yesterday to complain. The tech I spoke with was unaware of any exclusive arrangement with Microsoft. He mentioned that Netflix would be supported by some new Sony Bravia TVs next quarter and thought that the PS3 wouldn't be far behind. Of course, he didn't give any concrete information.

it seems very unlikely that netflix will keep this exclusive deal for long. it goes against their entire strategy.

i remember hearing not that long ago that the wii would have a disk that you would need to use to stream netflix to the device. perhaps this is a work around that would get them out of the deal. it's not an app, it's a game, used to do the same thing the app does on the xbox.

They came out with a new device they were streaming to each week for a while. Tivo was a huge one. I think they will keep that ball rolling..

Also, whenever I've spoken with the Netflix techs, they don't know much of anything. They didn't understand my Netflix Instant Watch movies were being throttled either. They were able to pull up every movie I had ever watched on the service though and exactly when and where. That was a little disconcerting..
