For the late few weeks my Windows 7 laptop is tacking up to 5 minutes to connect to all wireless AP. I have removed the drivers from the system and re download from the HP website but now look getting it to work. It was working fine for a few weeks but now it is doing my head in. If you have any idea how to fix it without formating my computer thanks gdgt.com users.

I suppose my only other suggestion is to try to disable IPv6 on your notebook (just temporarily). Note, if you have not updated the firmware on the router, I definitely suggest trying to disable IPv6.
Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Try to check a few things.

1. Update the firmware on your AP. Just go to the manufacturers' website and follow the prompts, etc.
2. Try to use another channel. Typically, the default is the 1 range. Try 6 or 11. Often, a host of other AP's (all configured with the default channel) can cause interferance.

Next, determine whether it's the AP or the notebook. ie, go to a public WiFi, and see how it goes. If it is instant, focus on the router. If it takes awhile, you could look at the notebook. Could be the NIC, or some OS settings, etc. Did you try connecting other devices to the AP (smartphone, Wii, PS3, whatever)?

I have the same thing with one of my machines - Sony P - others are ok. It was working fine with Vista, and even CTP7. However, now - with official 7 drivers it is taking forever to connect - and sometimes bounces on and off. I've seen this before and it was the device drivers themselves. So, I am waiting for the next release and hoping it works better :)
