I just got this phone last night to replace my enV 2 which broke...

I know on the ads it mentions twitter when it talks about apps, but I have yet to find a twitter app for any verizon phones. When talking with a sales rep at the store, he couldn't name any but was sure there was one.

Anyway.... I was hoping someone could solve this for me and also share their recommendations for apps.

There is an app for the enV Touch for Twitter called 'Tweet Tweet'.

Select Media Center, Browse & Download, Get New Applications, Community and Sharing. Tweet Tweet should be listed there.

Good luck.

A lot of people seem to have been confused by what Verizon meant by "apps"...
What they meant is that you can add apps to your shortcuts menu, and from there drag to the home screen.

And as for the twitter app, in the shortcuts menu, click on the "my media" tab and it gives you browser shortcuts to social networking sites such as twitter, facebook and youtube.

My guess is that they put apps in the advertisement to try and generate more sales...

Hope that helps!

Has anyone had any success with non-veriozon applications on their phone? It kills me to pay a monthly fee for an application.

Has Android developed any free applications for the LG enV Touch? I would love to see a Remember the Milk applet for the enV Touch.

hate to break it to you, but that's impossible. the env touch runs a featurephone operating system, not android, and so android apps don't work. sort of like installing iwork of ilife on a windows laptop, it can't be done. although it would be pretty sweet(although verizon would probably come up with a way to block it anyway--and yes, i own this phone)

that would be cool but that would never happen in Verizon dumb phones. they want you locked into their crappy ecosystem of poop.

I don't know if this helps you out at all, but I just saw this:

s-can-you-hear-me-now/

Important part of that article: Verizon’s Ryan Hughes, VP Partner Management, said in an interview Friday that the network operator’s app store will be the sole marketplace on devices sold by the company, meaning stores such as Research In Motion’s BlackBerry App World or Microsoft’s Windows Mobile Marketplace won’t get placement on Verizon handsets unless a consumer downloads them.

yeah, my brother just got this phone, I'm not familiar with Verizon, and I was surprised as hell they charge a monthly fee for visual voicemail. Give me a break.

got this phone about a month ago and the thing that I dislike most about it is the lie that Verizon touts about app support. there are a grand total of like 45 apps for it, so much for causing jealously. though i love the screens, keyboard, 3g speed, html support, and camera, the lack of app support sucks. however, what can be said for it is that it functions very well in the areas i listed above. for very heavy texting and mild web use, this is a fantastic phone, and for the price, you can't beat it.

I do support for VZW: Good luck. This phone, as stable as it is, and neat as it is, will not have great apps like smart phones. VZW wants you to buy their apps.

Then tell me why my phone reboots on its own, and restores to default wallpaper/sounds/fonts? And why can't I use the full potential of the phone without killing the battery in 2 hours??

Mine started doing the same thing about a month after I got it for no apparent reason. I went through all of Verizon's troubleshooting but eventually they determined what I already suspected...that they needed to replace the phone. They sent me a new phone overnight and I sent the old one back no charge. Sorry but that's what you should do. Call the warranty department. 1-866-406-5154. Good luck!

I just got my Touch a couple weeks ago and it started acting up. So, after searching for a while, I went to the manufacturer's website (www.lge.com) and after playing around there for a bit, found they had a program that allows one to update the phone software a little better than Verizon seems to allow. I updated it and now it works well. I did, however, decide to go on eBay and buy an extended battery. It adds a little bulk, but I'm hard pressed to kill the battery in a day and I've used the phone like a flashlight, made calls and did texting, played Need For Speed for about an hour over the course of a day and a half, and still had a bar of power left. - Good luck

I got mine in August and Ive never had this happen. Around October it started happening to my husbands at least once a day. We took it into the verizon store and they said his phone was running the wrong version software. They did a quick update in the store and it has been fine since. No need to replace the phone or go through the warranty.

As far as battery life, it is kinda crappy. One option is to purchase the extended life battery which is a bit bulky. I personally just carry a spare charger in my purse and one in each car.

I have come to loathe the Verizon ad for this phone. That they make the major selling point its "app-friendly"-ness is borderline insulting to customers.

Agreed. There are little to no good apps for this phone and the ones that look decent charge a MONTHLY subscription fee...what a bunch of bull. Not to mention that Verizon just came out with the Google OS for their phones but as far as I can tell this phone is not compatible. I'm definitely wishing I hadn't bought this phone.

Folks, get a "smart" phone if you want any degree of freedom running programs or apps.

"dunb" or "feature" phones are not the path to the goal you seek.

Spend more money you will, but freedom you can attain.

Yeah that app advertisement is some of the most misleading marketing that I've seen in a while. Kind of like Time Warner claiming that their cable is just as fast as Verizon FioS because "we have fiber in our network." It's fiber TO YOUR DOOR that counts. DSL has fiber backbone too, you don't see them claiming FioS speeds.
Same thing w/ Verizon and their bullshit "apps." It's a downright lie. There is no development community for Verizon's in-house OS because nobody wants to sell crappy Java apps through their "get it now" store (which I recommend that you don't use by the way, such a huge scam).
Verizon even disables Java on their Windows mobile phones because they want you to use their store only. They are despicable and I am switching the minute my contract is over.

I wish everybody around here knew/cared about that stuff. Verizon is like a damn cult. It's like you're doing something wrong if you don't have Verizon. I hate them personally. I just wish AT&T would get with the program and up their network to 7.2 already.
