There are some captive stylus that work for the iphone, but didn't get good replies from G1 owners, then again that was first gen device, and I have a feeling the Hero has a better screen then the G1 so the chance is there that it will work

As deinfinityx pointed out, there are capacitive styluses (styli?) available and they should work with the Hero.

The big question is, where will you store it?

HTC has developped a Capacitive Stylus for the HD2. Should work on any Capacitive touchscreen, I guess.
Clove (UK) has it, although I don't know if it's on stock at he moment
