Just thought it would be interesting to see what Os everyone is running on their Mini. One of the eighty million distros of Linux, Win 7, XP, Vista or OS X?

I've got the Windows 7 RC loaded right now and it's running fantastic. I might install the final product, although considering the OS costs almost as much as the computer itself, I might just end up switching back to UNR.

I'm running Windows 7 RC also. It was super easy to install. I just unpacked the files and installed from within XP. No need for a bootable thumbdrive or anything.

I'm impressed with the performance so far. I use Chrome as a nice lightweight browser, and I installed OpenOffice in case I need to work on any documents. I haven't had time to figure out all the cool features in Windows 7, but it looks really promising.

Anyone tried to OS X on their mini?

Running both the original HP GUI on top of Ubuntu Linux and also running Jaunty Jackalope Ubuntu remix on it. Nothing Microsoft crosses our doorstep. How about a 12 sec startup time? Can't do that with Microsquash's OS! I've never understood why anyone would want to run MSFT OS on a netbook - it's the first and best opportunity to experience what you have been missing!

Windows 7 Home Premium Final release

Came with HP Linux distro "Mi" which I ran for about 1 hour before putting Windows 7 RC
Later upgraded to Windows 7 Ultimate then Home Premium Final release

Performance is great
All hardware works except the integrated Microphone / mic (very frustrating) so its useless for Skype

Running Win 7 RC with a pre-order of RTM already purchased. Upped the RAM to 2GB, run everything stock, only adding Live Mesh and the Harmony remote software... love it.

Are all of the Mini 1000s upgradeable to 2GB of RAM? HP's site says the XP models are maxed out at 1GB.

Microsoft has imposed a 1 GB maximum for computers that are being sold with the "netbook" license of XP (because the "netbook" license is significantly cheaper and they don't want this pricing being abused by computer manufacturers). So the most RAM you can get factory in a Mini 1000 is 1 GB, but the computer is fully compatible with an after market 2 GB upgrade. I have done it myself and highly recommend it.

I just sent mine back for a fix, but I'm planning on throwing Ubuntu on it when I'm done. That said, I preordered Win7 and that could very well make it on there in Oct...

I'm running Windows 7 RC. Runs fantastic and very snappy for the netbook hardware. I have a 1137nr and it runs fine with only the 1GB of ram.

I tried my hardest to enjoy MIE, but the way hp made tweaking so annoying just frustrated me after about a weak. I switched to UNR 9.04 and I can say it is MUCH faster than MIE (which is based on Ubuntu 8.04). I wanted to like MIE, but after using UNR, it just seems like hp wasted a lot of time and money reinventing the wheel.
