If I go to options|under the hood and select Change proxy settings, it doesn't open the dialogue, at least not where I can see it. Any advice ?

Chrome use IE Proxy setting.
You can use proxy switch tools such "IE Proxy Switch", it is free and can be download from: http://soft-net.net/IEProxySwitch.aspx

Chrome does in fact use IE proxy settings and it does not require 3rd party software, you can go to

Control Panel --> Internet Options --> Connections --> LAN settings

That for Windows, of course, you Linux users know what to do :)

Folks, this is not resolved. As a browser behind a firewall, it must point to the proxy server. It's not picking up the system settings of my "bridged" network with my host OS.

Instead, since it tries to open a new tab to the wiki for LinuxProxyConfig on Code.google.com web site, I'm still stuck trying to get to the proxy server.

How can I define the system variable "http_proxy" to point to this server? I can't see anything through the tools or console.

I was able to get a "pac" file downloaded by browsing directly to the proxy server so I know the network is working but I don't know how to make it swallow the pill!?
