Anyone emulating chrome os with VirtualBox. I added the hd image and made in SATA. When I run the vm it loads and screen goes black.
I am running it on a asus eeepc 904HA
1.6Ghz atom
1GB RAM
intel GMA 950 (I think this is what is causing the problem)

before anyone replies: I am not going to download vmware.

Had the same problem but VirtualBox is also able to open the vmware disk image so download that and you should be good to go.
Edited to add that your eeepc spec is a bit low for any sort of Virtual work but good luck!

I just used the VMDK (Vmware image) with VirtualBox and everything worked pretty well; I tried changing settings but the VirtualBox image never worked for me either.

Not working for me either, pretty frustrating.

Used the guide at TechCrunch ( http://www.techcrunch.com/2009/11/19/guide-install-googl
e-chrome-os/
), but still didn't work :\

Did you use the guide there with the VMWare image? That is what it's for. That guide isn't for the VirtualBox image.

What did you do to get it working with the VirtualBox image? It's not working for me, just shows a black screen...

VirtualBox image is just giving me a black screen too. At least the VMWare image works in VirtualBox.

Got that far as well in VirtualBox. Not able to log in due to failed network connection.
Tried Bridged Networking in stead of NAT, didn't help either...>

I have the VMware image working on VirtualBox on a MacBook Pro. I had trouble with the network. Changed it to PCnet-PCII (NAT) and was able to get online.

Virtual Box in MAC Snow Leopard. Chromium boots up but no network connection.

Have tried many combinations of network adapter and bridged and NAT mode still no joy. Using 24inch IMAC Duo Core

I will wait a little longer until someone out there with similar hardware show me how its done.

The “Network not connected and offline login fail” problem seems to be affecting all platforms and it's behaviour is random; and the fixes are random too. I originally ran the VMWare image on Virtualbox and it worked. I thought this is a bit slow, maybe it's quicker running on VMWare, so I installed VMWare Player and ran the VMWare image, it didn't work. I downloaded the VDI image and ran on the Virtualbox, it didn't work. So it was back to the VMWare image running on Virtualbox, couldn't login. The only way I can login is using the cronos login with the password "password". As soon as you log in you can log into your gmail account using the network connection, so the network connection is working. Tried all the suggestions other people have made about bridged networking, changing the network adapter type, and waiting for 10 seconds, 10 minutes etc but all to no avail.

It works!!!!!!!!!!. There is a little typo .Error User Name Should be “chronos” with the password “password” (no quotes).
Then you can login.

Thanks paulb487.
