I set the connection to bridged at the login screen, and all worked fine. The only other settings I have changed are to use two processors and more memory, but I doubt that has much effect on anything.

Can't get mine to work. Using Fusion 2.0.6. Same "Network not connected and offline login fail" message. I have switched the network to Bridge mode and restarted the OS as well as VMWare. No luck :(, help!

Working great for me, too. However, I can't seem to add any more apps, nor can I get it to shut down from within the OS. I have to use VMWare to shut it down. Any ideas?

Yeah, I haven't figured out a way to do the stuff Google showed in the press conference today. Haven't figured out how to add other web apps or bring up those panels.

Yep, works great for me in Fusion 3.0. Network works either in bridge or NAT (default) mode. The whole thing is fairly slow, but it is fun to be able to play with it. I create the virtual machine as Other 64-bit. Can anyone confirm that it was the right choice?

Also, another thing is that the pointer stays within the bounds of the window. I have to use Command-Q to be able to leave that area. Is there a trick that I should know?

If you're using VMware Fusion, you can hit Control-Command to escape the pointer from the virtual machine.

We'll try to put up an image for VirtualBox soon!

VirtualBox is a free VM client made by Sun Microsystems:

I was able to use the same VMWare published image on Sun's Virtual Box 3.0.12 on Ubuntu Karmic. Runs perfectly without changing an option. I was able to login using my Google credentials. You can convert the vmdk file to a VBox vdi, though not necessary, via the following commands:

$ unzip chrome-os-0.4.22.8-gdgt.vmdk.zip
$ qemu-img convert chrome-os-0.4.22.8-gdgt.vmdk chrome-os-0.4.22.8-gdgt.bin
$ VBoxManage convertdd chrome-os-0.4.22.8-gdgt.bin chrome-os-0.4.22.8-gdgt.vdi

Use chrome-os-0.4.22.8-gdgt.vdi as your VM hard drive and make sure you choose Linux as the guest OS when creating the image.

Like I told Dave, for VirutalBox, you should export the VM as an appliance from the File ==> export as appliance in VirtualBox console. Then the install is really simple, File ==> import appliance. No fiddling around with settings and junk. Once it's imported, if the user wants to adjust settings, that's fine.

What's happening when you try to run it?

I created the VM as both Unknown, and Linux (Ubuntu) and tried to boot. Got past POST then black screen. No boot loader. This is VMWare 1.x that has been running for a while on XP.

I am not getting it to boot on VMware Server v2. I have tried different SCSI controllers with no change. Default was LSI controller. The result is after POST is simply a black screen. No boot loader that I can detect. During post if I hit ESC to get the boot option menu, and then hit ESC two more times, I get:

aborted.
boot:

If I type 'help', I get "Could not find kernel image: help" Tried 'linux', 'chromeos', and many others, but nothing. If I hit enter to take the default image it will just sits there.

If you *just* installed VMWare, restart your computer and try it again.

Not a new install. Installed about 8 months now and 2 VM currently running.
