I can't seem to get past the Network error that many others are receiving as well.

I've tried almost everything mentioned in the comments. I tried VirtualBox and VMware.

Got it working on Virtualbox (latest) and Windows 7. Had issues with the virtualbox image.

Download and use the VMWare vmdk image (on Virtualbox), set an intel adaptor to bridged (not the PCNet-PCI adaptors), and use OS Unknown. I used 256 mb of mem. Nothing else special.

Works great - booted in 5 seconds.

Just FYI - not much to do besides being jailed in a brower, didn't see any of the other apps besides chrome browser itself available. You can check your battery status and turn the wifi/ethernet on and off, but other than that couldn't do much. Boots quick. Can't wait to see the real deal.

This will be perfect for netbooks and for techies sick of supporting their parent's windows boxes but don't want to spend the money on a mac.

So, to put these all in one spot, I use this to change resolution:

xrandr -s 1280x720

This to shut it down and power off the VM (had to fiddle to get this):

sudo /sbin/shutdown -P now

And these commands are all accessible using Ctrl+Alt+T to bring up the terminal. Also, on the gdgt image, the sudo password is "chronos" (same as the login name at the prompt).

Hope this helps. :-)

That's it?! Nothing but a browser?! It's so lame. Although I "sort of" got it working all I saw was the Chrome browser. Where's the file browser (something similar to Explorer or Finder) or even something similar to My Computer?!

Maybe I'm missing something.

vmw starts chrome fine on fusion but login screen does NOT accept my login & pass stating "incorrect user name or password", which i gave in correctly , and yes, tried several times with single finger typing. however, login screen adds @gmail.com automatically to username and i never use that appendix when logging into gdgt. so do not know how to handle that.

it could have all been so easy with standard login user and passed for everyone, but not at googles....

so what now, how to get the flavor of chrome ?

other time login fails, chrome commenting "network not connected", which virtual machine shows as properly connected.

it could have all been so easy with standard login user and passed for everyone, without chrome calling home via network ir at least offline login also possible ....

so what now, how to get the flavor of chrome ?

ctrl-alt-t does work.

Reboot chrome os and you'll be able to use your gmail account for shortlinks.

Try using VMware image instead of VDI's. It worked for me...

I used VirtualBox and just like most people, the VMware image worked for me and the VirtualBox image did not.

Downloaded and installed in VMWare on my MacBook Pro really nicely. It was running pretty slowly. Punched up the processors and RAM. Questions:

1. What is everyone else running for processors and RAM and how is performance?
2. Anyone else find that Bridged networking doesn't work for them, and that they have to rely on another type?
3. Anyone get tasks, calc or notepad to work?
