Just got it running on Parallels 4, using the Transporter to create the image. Nice!

Does this work if your network uses an authenticated proxy server? I don't see any options before the log in screen to specify and network settings.

After a big old "FAIL" using VM and getting the "network error" message I switched to VirtualBox.

Followed TechCrunch directions on using VirtualBox. See this link;

http://www.techcrunch.com/2009/11/19/guide-install-googl
e-chrome-os/

I used the Chromium version downloaded here on Gdgt. Works like a charm. A little lag even with 512 ram assigned. Must admit, I'm not sure what all the hype is about. It's a glorified web browser masking itself as an OS.

I do see the advantage using a netbook and cloud computing other then that, why waste your time.

Getting a black screen. Nothing. Running Virtualbox, x86.

Same black screen issue with the VirtualBox build. I used the VM Fusion build from gdgt.

So, have VirtualBox tie to the VMFusion build instead of the VirtualBox build. Makes no sense but it worked for me.

I followed the directions on TechCrunch, they too are using the VMFusion .vmdk build with VirtualBox.

so I have it installed and running (I think). One thing that I'm not sure about though is the first "tab", the one with the chrome "symbol". It is nothing but a blank white page. I assume something is suppose to be there, right? Also, this may be a noob question, but how do you shutdown this OS properly?

I am currently behind a proxy server which requires one to log in before accessing the Internet. Has anyone found a way to set a proxy username/password?

I'm using:
- MacO S Snow Leopard;
- VMWare Fusion 3.

IT'S WORKING!

What did I do to work?

1. Download the archive;
2. New Virtual Machine;
3. Use an existing..., and select the disk, like a copy and DONT CONVERT.
4. Operating System: Other; Version: Other;
5. Next, nex... and the Chrome OS start alone (DO NOT LOG IN);
6. SHUT DOWN the machine;
7. Go to settings and change to "bridged (autodetect)";
8. Run the Chrome OS and login.

This steps work for me and I hope that work for someone!

So here is what I did to setup my VM.

1) I Created a new VM
2) Selected Custom
3) Hardware Capability Workstation 6.5
4) I will install the operating system later
5) Linux
6) Other Linux 2.6.x kernel
7) Called it Google Chrome OS
8) Gave it two processors
9) 1024 MB ram
10) Selected bridge networking
11) SCSI Adapter: LSI Logic
12) Use Existing Virtual Disk
13) Browsed to the vmdk file
14) I opted to convert it to Workstation 6.5
15) Checked Power on this virtual machine after creation
16) Clicked Finish
17) First login attempt failed
18) Changed the VM Ware network adapter settings and checked Replicate physical network connection state
19) rebooted
20) Logged in just fine
21) Pressed CTRL+ALT+T to open a terminal window
22) typed in xdandr -s 1280x720, hit enter to change my screen resolution
23) typed exit

Everything is working good.

My System specs:

Shuttle SG31G2
Intel 2.4GHz C2Q Q6600 8MB 775 Quad Core Processor
4GB DDR2 800 PC-6400 Dual Channel 240-Pin Memory
Windows XP SP3

Sqlsamson, how were you able to run xdandr ? I can't find that command from my terminal window, even as root?

Sorry I had to open a terminal window by pressing CTRL+ALT+T then inside of the terminal window I type the following command: xrandr -s 1024x768 followed by pressing enter. Here are some command references for other resolution settings: http://bit.ly/6t93cH

Good work man. "CTRL + ALT + T" will bring up the command prompt and "xrandr -s 1280x720" fixed the screen resolution. Thanks for the info!

It appears to be that the VirtualBox image is corrupt. Tried with the VMware image, it worked.

2 problems with Chrome OS: The Chrome button doesn't work, and also HTTPS access doesn't work.
