Not to upset anyone, but I think this doesn't shoot 1080p, but 1080i. I have a similar model (HDR-XR200 with harddisk) and it doesn't shoot 1080p.

I could be utterly wrong though.

I read through the reviews on amazon http://bit.ly/87zP4t/, no mention at all about 1080p vs 1080i, but everyone seems to say that the quality is good.

I haven't used a camcorder or video recorder since 1995! I haven't had the money or time to compare all the new stuff out there. This definitely looks and sounds really nice.

I have this camcorder and it's wonderful. You definitely want it. Best thing about it is the compact size! Not as compact as a Zi8 or Flip but this is obviously much better quality. Albeit bulky, it'll fit in a pocket.
