I've been pretty interested in the Archos 5 Internet Tablet since it's been out and even got to play with one during the gdgt NYC launch party. It's a device that has a lot of squandered potential in my opinion. From my brief time with it, and from what others have said, it sounds like Archos has really Nerfed the tablet.

If you could change or improve anything about this, what would you do?

I'd love to see a faster processor (maybe something like a Snapdragon), a capacitive touchscreen, and potentially 3G wireless access (in addition to the built-in wifi support). Lastly, opening up the device to the full Google experience (fully supporting the Android App Store) is also key.

This device is so close. It's frustrating the Archos didn't try and go the extra mile!

I've only had a limited amount of exprience with this device (saw it at the launch party no clue why I didn't dig in), and i've been looking for a replacement for my current ipod and so i took a little look at the A5S, in my opinion the screen needs to go. Touch technology like that is inacceptable in the post Iphone/ Itouch/ DS world. I didn't get to see how well the android support was the device was was too sluggish. Also the opportunity to buy new headphones seemed more interesting. Lets face it in today's mobile world Apps and App stores are key you can't seriously hope to have your device succeed against the Itouch without app support. Battery life on that thing wasn't the best then again with that screen i'm not surprised. overall it needs more time in the oven.... hopefully Archos brings the fire this year at CES but they've let me down so many times before..
