+1

With the app store they also have a strong distribution platform that could easily be used for navigation software + updates.

Also wouldn't mind using a bluetooth gps...

A camera and GPS would be awesome for the iPod Touch. Those are great features (so I can post camera roll pictures to Facebook, Twitter, etc.) but a larger amount of memory, OLED screen, HD playback capability and oleophobic-coated screen would be welcome just as much. The only reason that I haven't upgraded to the 2nd Gen Touch was the pricing to memory ratio.

I agree. The inclusion of a camera and GPS receiver would dramatically increase the value of the iPod Touch. Apple would effectively be entering the point and shoot camera and GPS markets with the iPod. I think a device like that could be even more successful than the iPhone due to the lack of a subscription fee.

That's the problem though. With the iPhone they have a guaranteed regular stream of revenue. The don't want to bite into that with a one-time revenue maker, with only a possible chance of a revenue stream in the form of app purchases.

We also have to pay for the software updates, something all iPhone users get free because of the regular revenue stream. Although it isn't guaranteed, most people do upgrade and pay the $10 for it.

That's the problem though - when we are paying for the iPod touches, we are paying for more upfront. This should cover any expenses incurred for future software updates or anything of the sorts....

This and more storage (64 or more) would be enough to get me to ditch my current (Gen 1) Touch

I finally decided to buy an iPod this past spring. iPod Nano because the Touch was too expensive for the space. Now I want a Touch but I'm waiting for the next gen. I won't buy an iPhone because the only carrier in my area that has it sucks, a lot. Horrible coverage compared to the local telco. Also, work pays for my Blackberry data.

An update Touch would rock, especially if it had a decent camera. I'm kind of hoping someone releases a new device like an iPhone but bigger. Come on Apple, innovate! Give me devices like Virtuality has!

Oh I wish the iPod Touch gets an update soon as my birthday is at the end of September and I've been wanting one since it first came out.

Hey! I think your wish will indeed come true, historically speaking, new iPods very often came out at the end of september! (or so I think..!)

I would love to see a larger version of the iPod Touch that I could use as an internet tablet around the house. The Touch is just a little too small. Keep the screen resolution the same but give me more screen (maybe 6" diagonal), serviceable speakers, a grippy rubberized edge for ease of holding, and I'd buy it!

I have basically decided that I will be buying a Touch when they are updated in September. I think Apple will intro a 64 GB version and probably lower the 32 GB version to $300. The new one will most likely have the updated chips that the iPhone has as well in addition to the oleophobic screen. I think a camera is possible if not probable, and GPS would be amazing but I'm not really expecting it.

if it had the camera that the 3gs has i would be verry tempted to dtich my 8gb 1st gen (which i stupidly bought a month before the 2nd gen was annouced) for this i have a canon sd1000, but i carry it infrequently but take my ipod everywhere, (altough i also carry my sony ericcson w580i which does ok pictures)
