With a video camera, pedometer, radio, and other updates, is the iPod nano 5th gen. really worth the buy?

I skipped the 4th gen, but going from the third to the 5th I'm extremely happy with it.

I think it is a pretty good buy. I picked one up and despite having an iPhone 3G, I really like using the nano. I actually use the pedometer everyday on my lunch at work. The FM Radio is nice but I don't use it a whole lot. The video camera is really handy to have, too. I wouldn't use it for any serious recording but it isn't meant for that. It helps for those moments where you go "Oh! I wish I had a video camera!"

If you are upgrading a previous nano, I'd say it's worth it if you think you'll get use from the new features (the are quite good). If you just have that "WANT NEW GADGET" feeling (I get that a lot), it might be beneficial to wait a little and see if that wears off. It isn't the most amazing thing in the world, but it is a nice improvement over the previous nano.

Personally I didn't hesitate for a second to upgrade from my iPod 4th gen. Love the videocamera, too bad you can't take pictures so you still want to have a phone with a camera. Radio = great, listen to it all the time (which means I don't have to carry gigs of music, so 16 GB is more than enough). I wouldn't do it if I had the previous nano.

I would be coming from a 3rd gen (square) nano. Does the little bigger screen make it capable of watching extended videos/movies/podcasts?

This little beauty is definitely worth the buy. I picked it up a few days ago and I'm currently loving it and not missing my iPod Touch a single bit. The speakers are powerful (enough) and the video camera quality is great when you import it onto your PC/Mac. All the videos are im .mp4 format so you can sync them onto your iPod Touch instantly.

The device is also extremely slim, thin and light. You won't notice it if you just slip it into your pocket.

If u didn't have the 4th gen then it is worth the buy. i actually have an Ipod Touch and im waiting for th next gen in hope it has a camera, however if i want to go for a walk o run the nano is a better option, im happy with it so far (bought it yesterday) nice sound quality, light, it feels well built the scroll wheel is a bit small, the screen ir really good so yes its worth it!
