Since the 3.0 software update (on both 3G and 3GS), every time I connect the iPhone to iTunes I lose my place in every audiobook, podcast and video.

Anyone else having a similar problem?

I was having the same issue for awhile with that. it seemed like if I tried to listen on the computer before I synced my podcosts/audiobooks it was messing something up. But if I do not touch any Podcasts/audiobooks on the computer and only listen to them through the iPhone i stopped having those issues.

I haven't tried it with 3.1 yet

Yes, this is a well known problem where the audiobook place is lost after you sync. It still happens in the latest iPhone update so I guess we will just have to wait for Apple to fix it.
It's very annoying!

This happens for me as well, and it's not just during a sync. When I connect my phone I get a short sync, even though automatic syncing is turned off. After this 2 or 3 second sync, my podcasts that are partially listened to are marked as new and start at the beginning.

Same happening here with my 3G since the update to iTunes 9 and iPhone 3.0. I have to manually "mark as watched" or remove the podcasts and videos I'm done watching, and then have to skip forward to where I think I left off. Very annoying.

Arrrgh. Really annoying bug. Using Bookmark app for audiobooks which is OK but doesn't let you do other things on the iPhone, listen to podcasts or stop/start using the mic. I only really listen to podcasts and audiobooks so am getting very frustrated with Apple not releasing a fix for this.

I've updated to 3.1.3 and my audiobooks still don't sync properly. It's awful having to find your place in an 8 hour book, especially when this used to work automatically on itunes when you synced. I even got a new iphone and it still doesn't work!

i think this was an iTunes problem. i upgraed to 9.0.3 last night & saw a fix about podcasts/etc. i haven't checked if it works yet though.

I’m using an iPhone with firmware version 3.1.3 (7E18) and audiobooks are still losing their place. It occurs after a sync but other times also. For example, If I watch a movie and then return to an audiobook that I’d been reading, the audio book has lost its place. To me, this means that it is a bug in the iPhone’s firmware, not a problem with iTunes. As others have said, this is VERY frustrating. I can’t understand why Apple hasn’t fixed this.

I don't loose my bookmarks every sync, but about a tenth of the time. I haven't figured out exactly what causes it.

Apple really needs to fix this, it is extremely annoying to have scrubb throught 8 hours of audio contents once a week to find were i left of!
